Salmon Ambassador River Field Trip
On Friday morning, pupils from our Eco Committee and School Council took part in a field trip as part of our Salmon Ambassador Programme with the Loughs Agency.
They visited Katherine’s Bridge near Artigarvan and had brilliant weather for the trip.
The pupils had the opportunity to become freshwater scientists as they undertook various tasks and made observations.
Upon arrival, the pupils carried out a litter picking activity in the surrounding area. They then measured the river width and depth and made observations of any river erosion, invasive species and pollution in the area. After this, the pupils carried out a micro-invertebrate survey to identify the species present.
Thank you to Jack and Michael from the Loughs Agency for their expertise and guidance, the pupils had a fantastic morning!
