Pupils in Year 7 have been participating in the Salmon Ambassador Programme, run by the Loughs Agency.
This educational outreach programme focuses on the Atlantic salmon found in our local rivers and aims to teach pupils about salmon lifecycles, migration and the threats they face whilst in our rivers and out at sea.
A key part of the programme is bringing fish directly into the primary classroom.
In the Year 7 classroom, we have a hatchery system containing salmonid eggs. Pupils will be able to watch daily development of the eggs and development of the baby fish.
